Resources for Clinicians

SHARED Decision Making Resources

Shared decision-making is the interactive process of discussing treatment options, engaging the patient/family with a medical professional, and tailoring the plan to the patients goals and concerns. Evidence shows that shared decision making can help patients¹:
  • Feel more comfortable with their health care decisions.
  • Better understand the care that they receive.
  • Have greater confidence in their health care team.
  • Are more likely to stick to their care plan and experience better health outcomes.
