Phillip W. Heath

Phillip W. Heath is president and CEO of Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, an independent not-for profit provider of home-based healthcare and supportive services in southern New Jersey. Mr. Heath is responsible for leading the fulfillment of Samaritan’s vision, mission, and strategic direction to provide advanced clinical expertise and extraordinary compassion for nearly 11,000 patients and families each year. While Mr. Heath was unanimously elected to his new role in 2022, he has been leading the organization’s volunteer board of trustees as chairman since 2018, working alongside the senior leadership team to expand Samaritan’s life-enhancing care options and continuing to help more people, especially those who are most vulnerable, in more ways.


Mr. Heath is distinguished by his 30 years of leadership experience with various local, regional, and national healthcare organizations in the areas of sales, marketing, business development, government affairs and operations. He has extensive experience in the hospice, senior housing, long-term care, and healthcare technology arena. He has also been involved in corporate community affairs, social responsibility, and inclusion and diversity initiatives, and as a community volunteer throughout his career.


Mr. Heath served as Chief Marketing and Sales Officer and Chief Administrative Officer with a provider of long-term care services and Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). Most recently he was the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for a South Jersey-based healthcare technology firm, focused on the safe use of medications and medication therapy management. Mr. Heath was responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s strategic plan, administrative policies and performance of all corporate departments.


As strategic advisor to the CEO, Mr. Heath provided strategic oversight for critical business functions and shared services across the organization. He served as senior leader for Human Resources, Legal and Compliance, Corporate University, the Office of Corporate Culture, and Corporate Services. He led the digital workplace transformation and other strategic policy and human capital management initiatives prior to the company’s initial public offering.


Mr. Heath holds a B.A. from Morehouse College and an M.S. in Health Services Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. He earned a certificate in Healthcare Leadership from Cornell University and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
