Shawn Sullivan

Shawn Sullivan serves as the President and CEO of Midland Care Connection, a unique not-for-profit integrated community care organization. Midland Care provides care and services to more than 1,800 people across 22 counties in Northeast Kansas through the Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), hospice, home health, meals on wheels, palliative care, adult day and grief and loss counseling services.


Sullivan has served as President and CEO at Midland Care since January 2021. Prior to Midland Care, he served in executive roles in long-term care and government. His career in government included working for two Governors in Kansas and stints as the Secretary of the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services, State Budget Director and Chief Operating Officer for the Executive Branch. While serving as the Secretary of Aging, Sullivan oversaw the operations, managed a $1.6 billion annual budget, and led more than 2,600 employees of cabinet-level State agency in the promotion of security, dignity, and independence of older adults and persons with disabilities. As the State Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of fifteen state agencies and 20,000 employees. 

 

Sullivan’s previous roles in long-term care included serving as a licensed nursing home administrator and executive director of senior living communities in rural, suburban and urban communities and also working with state governments, CMS and corporate owners to improve distressed facilities and portfolios. Sullivan has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in applied gerontology from the University of North Texas and has served on numerous senior services related boards at the state and national level. Sullivan has also received a Public Advocacy award from Kansas State University and Public Service award from the National PACE Association.
